Holding me back from the C905
Hi All ,
Im new here to the forums and i was wondering if anyone could anwser a couple of my questions. Firstly i can get a upgrade on my phone contract soon and im looking to get the Sony Ericsson C905 however i have read a number of reviews on the internet about the phone having a speaker problem and that it also has very flimsy buttons. This is what has stopped me from buying it, if anyone could help me out with whether SE have fixed this or if anyone has had no problems with this phone whatsoever that would be great. Finally anyone who would suggest another one of the 8MP phones feel free because im not completely certain yet on what one i want.
The C905 is a really good phone.
It has very good camera phone capabilities, with an 8.1 megapixel camera with a powerful xenon flash. I believe this is the best camera phone currently available.
It's also equipped with GPS satnav, a media player, FM radio with RDS, 3G HSDPA with video calling, WiFi, and up to 8 GB of memory. However like all fones it isn't perfect.
The tricky keypad, poor battery life, lack of video calling and can sometimes the speaker/earpiece can fail.
Their are a number of user reviews stating the current issues with the earpiece failing.
Other 8mp camera fones examples ;
The LG KC910.
Samsung Pixon M8800
Samsung Innov8 i8510

cheerz for your reply lee , I think i might go with the C905 for a few reasons, 1 being that i can get it free on a fairly cheap contract and secondly its not touchscreen.
I dont understand the hype with touch screen isnt it just making the essential needs like texting harder and more frustarting??
The LG Renoir and the Pixon look brilliant and their specs are fairly impressive but touch screen just doesnt appeal to me, however a 8mp is essential because thats what i really like in a phone a good camera so it looks the c905 will have to do and if the speaker fails then hopefully im covered by warranty.
Has anyone had the speaker issue and had it fixed free of charge and no hassle . Im with O2 by the way and normally their customer service is fairly decent.
Unfourtionately I have to say different, as I said in another thread the other week, my mate had this phone and a number of the buttons suddenly needed to be pressed harder to function which later resulted in them getting stuck in the phone, when he phoned up about the problem, they said asked straight away if it was a sony erricson c905, so I am guessing that this must be a common problem with this phone.
Depending on how long you have got, take a look at the nokia n86, doesn't really look the part and the buttons look dated (but hopefully work) and is the first phone to feature a wide angle lens and adjustable apature. Nokia N86 8MP - Full phone specifications.
This is only for you really if the camera is the main reason you want the phone. Otherwise, maybe nokia n97. Or another phone by another make (I only know about nokia phones really). But there you go, up to you but personally after that I would not go for the c905, unless they HAVE managed to sort out the problem.
