Telemarketers I have had a cell phone for almost 10 years and never had problems with telemarketers. So the question is: Why? Is it illegal for telemarketers to call your cell number? If so, why can they still call your home number when you are on the do not call list?

I dont think its illegal to call your cell phone. Maybe its just the fact that it would cost them more?

Depends which country you're in I guess - but from a pratical point of view it's easier for them to get your landline number from a telephone book but your mobile/cell won't necessarily be listed in print so they must be getting it from another source such as when you register for something and the number's been passed on against your wishes. Maybe that's why it's illegal where you are, unless you've given consent along the line..

No i just think its harder for them to find out the numbers, and if they did call me i would just get my number added to the Do Not Call list.

Luckily, I haven't had this problem yet with my cell phone. The Do Not Call list doesn't always work though. I haven't registered my cell phone, but I did my land line. And while it got rid of some of it. There were still a few pesky places that got through, ugh.

I think it is, because it's a breach of your privacy for them to spam you with calls. You could put your name on the "no call" list like Trish has done, but there wouldn't be a no call list if it was legal.

thats a good thought actually - I have never had telemarketers call my mobile yet I used to get calls on my home phone ALL the time. Maybe it is just the cost of calling mobiles?

Relax...all we need is a signal on the phone that sends a mind numbing high pitch squeel to the telemarketer on the other side...after we zap a dozen or so telemarketers, they will find a better way to approach us...

Well I heard a while ago that they are going to release all cell phone numbers to telemarkets very soon. I do not remeber when but it is soon and you have to get a on a Do not Call list if you dont want it.

Your cell phone # isn't listed in the phone book which keeps the telemarketers away. I have gotten a few calls on my cell asking me change my long distance service...lol
