Well yes I agree to that, but I guess they have to be old enough to go out on their own with you trusting them to do it. But who says they dont abuse it?

I think that the minimum age should be around 10. Anything lower than that and you are pretty much giving away your cell phone to a useless cause. They wont even know how to use it and wont use it.

Raettopia: I agree, wholeheartedly. It definately shows how much our lives are changing and, when you step back and actually think about it, how unoriginal the thinking much of today's youth is. I constantly have to fight with my own son to get him outside into the sunshine and my daughter whined that she was one of the only one of her friends that didn't have her own cell phone by the age of 16. Sadly, most seem to think that, if it's not electronic, it's not fun.

I still hold fast to the belief that there's no right age; it's about maturity and, even then, unless they NEED one, why bother with getting them one?
