I just bought a Nokia 6280 off ebay got it and it was locked to 3. Took it to one of those shops to get unlocked. all seemed fine until i realised that it wasnt able to make any calls. Took it back to the shop, who said that it is ''Blocked'' and was likely to be the reason it was sold to me.
I actually live in Antigua and the guy who unlocked the phone told me that the block 3 have put on it will only apply in the UK so that when I get back home (antigua) the phone will work and be fine. I asked someone else about this who told me this is nonsense, if its blocked it wont work at all... ever!
Can someone please advise me, I will send it back to the ebay seller if this is the case and the phone is just never going to work but if the block only applies to uk and the phone will work in Antigua then its fine.
Fones purchased off auction sites are notorious for being imei blocked due to fraud. This is imposed by the network.
Their is some truth to what you have been told. Sometimes the block imposed by the uk network will not hold if the fone is taken to another country as your fone will auto select your home network.
If you paid by paypal then lodge a dispute with them and e bay.
Remember the fone is actually the property of the network and is blacklisted. If for any reason yyou are stopped and the fone checked out you could end up in trouble as in essence the fone is stolen even tho you parted with good cash for it.
