T Mobile's G1 working on an Orange sim
Good evening guys. Im currently on orange pay monthly and my phone is rubbish. They wont upgrade me and going to charge me over £400 to cancel my contract.
Ive been offered an un-locked G1 mobile. Using this with my orange sim will i still be able to use all the functions. Such as downloading applications and the other features this phone offers?
Hope somebody is able to help me out before I make this purchase.
Yes, you can use all the functions providing that you get some key information from Orange first, such as message centre number, access point i.e. the number you need to select to go online, etc ...
It might also be worth adding a unlimited internet package to your existing Orange contract, as you will find that you will be going online a fair bit with such a capable web-enabled phone.
I hope this helps!
thanks wittzi. sorry to be a pain but i dont really under stand what you mean by a message centre number and access point? could you please go into a bit more detail.
When a fone is purchased off a network those settings are already set.
But if you buy sim free or used and the fone was not on that network then sometimes these settings need to be activated.
So if you contact your new network and ask for the over the air settings for sms/mms and gprs etc then they will send these by text message. Accept and activate them then you will be able to use their functions.
