Recommend me a (smart)phone
I've been stuck with an old t-Mobile MDA for ages, because I like it, but the lack of a decent camera is becoming more and more irritating. So I'm in the market for a new handset but I'm really unsure what to get - nothing I can find seems to combine all the essential features that I use most on the phone.
First up, as stated, I want a decent camera, something that will double for a low-end digital camera in a pinch. Decent lens and image quality, preferably a flash and at least 5MP and hopefully a reasonably fast start-up time.
Second I want a keyboard. Now ideally I'd like a physical keyboard because I've never come across a virtual keyboard that I liked. But I'm prepared to listen if someone can show me a phone with a good virtual keyboard!
Third I need a decent music player, and ideally a phone with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
Other applications are less important:
* Internet access is a must but that's default on most mid/high end phones nowadays
* A selection of built-in or free downloadable games would be appreciated but is not essential
* Some sort of basic word-processing software
* GPS with in-car software would be a great excuse for the expense of an upgrade
I'm not wedded to any particular OS.
What seems to be giving me the most trouble is the keyboard/phone combo. Most phones with keyboards don't seem to have a decent camera.
I was hoping the N97 might do the trick, and it does seem to tick all the boxes, but the negative reaction to its release has put me off rather.
The best-looking match I've found so far is the Omnia HD (aka Samsung i8910 HD), which apparently has a decent virtual keyboard even if it doesn't have a physical one, but it currently costs a small fortune.
Any other suggestions much appreciated!?
