I dont do it and I have never have done it. I see no point in taking that chance becasue you can go and bet yourself very hurt by being distracted from the road by talking.

I really make an attempt to not use the phone while driving, and pull over to do so. All the comments about 'anything can happen' are right! Besides, watch people just walking and talking on their phones ...they run into things!

A lot of states require you to have a hands free device if you plan on talking on the phone in the car. Its a pretty good idea if you lok at how some people drive, even when they AREN"T on the phone.

I stop my car when there is a traffic road.
But I must confess that I am a lot tempted to keep on driving if it is a freeway .

I used to drive and talk on the cell, but I don't anymore. If I have to make a phone call, I do it before I leave for my destination. If people call me while I'm driving, I don't answer but will call them back when I stop somewhere, or reach my destination.

I have never sent a text message while driving. The fact that people do scares me. I don't know how that is possible nor do I want to know.

I used to drive and talk on the cell too. I used to not buckle my seat belt. Now I do both each and every time since I found out what I was doing was just stupid.

I agree. Most dangerous in the big cities. Too many people are not concentrating on the road. I always pull over if I get a call.

If I'm walking around and see someone driving and phoning I sometimes wave at them as if I know them - it confuses the hell out of them and they sometimes drop the phone while turning round to see who it is.

(I hasten to add I only do it when I'm sure it's not going to cause an accident...)

Worht it for the laugh though.

When I first got my cell phone I used to talk and drive on occasion - but I always found it incredibly dangerous even for myself - never mind the other passengers on the road. Usually, I'd end up saying 'hang on'and have to pull over anyway! Now, when I catch people in front of me talking and driving and see how out-of-control they are, it just reinforces the dangers to me. I've stopped doing it now!

Hrm, I use a hand free set. I really don't find it a problem and if things get hairy then I sign off.

I don't activily make calls on the road but I will take them.

I stopped doing it the day I caught myself rummaging through my coat pocket to find my cell because it was ringing. (It was my mother, asking where I was since I was on my way to meet her)

I will admit to driving and talking under one specific set of conditions - it goes something like this:

Okay - I'm at the second set of lights after the Burger King on Main Street... now what do I do?

That, Chameleon, is a good reason to talk and drive at the same time and even I have done that one. But generally, even though you're listening to the person talking, your mind is actively on the road, because you're trying to figure out where the heck you are going.

I lose attention really quickly and I learned it's VERY easy for my thoughts to stray from the road, even when I'm talking to a passenger, let alone a faceless ambient voice harping away in my ear

Turn around...Go through the drive through...pick me up an extra shake while you are at it...see if they are running a two for one sale on Whoppers...get me the rings instead of the fries...and...hey, you asked...
